Leaning towards the edge of the chair, Sungjong eyed the clock. 12AM, Twelve. His face looked almost painful. Right now, beginning this moment, it was his hyung’s birthday and Of course it wasn’t that he was supposed to get a gift, it was a thing between the members. Yet, sungjong sometimes branched out and got something small or did a small thing for them when it was their birthdays–not too expensive, not too flashy–but just enough to show that he cared. The day had been hectic and he hadn’t had a chance to prepare for this day and he was empty handed– of course it wouldn’t make a big deal to that hyung, he’d probably not notice either way–but the thing was that Sungjong wanted too; He wanted to give something; no matter how small. The things had a sentimental type of value and it felt important to him–pertinent.
Thinking of what he could do for this situation he sprawled out into his bed and closed his eyes, opening them soon after because if he fell asleep it’d be bad. He’d have no chance in getting anything…but what could he really get at midnight? What was still open…maybe a convenience market? …even then, what would he get that was worth while at the market of that sort? A soft ‘Hmmm…’ of a humming sound reverberated through him in his thought process. maybe he could make something? ….but that might be too obvious and also sort of lame, what could be really make? He could get some food and cook it, that would always work out but, really what type of food could you get that would be good from a small market like that? Carefully getting up from his bed–he figured he should get better dressed if anything. pulling on a hoodie and stuffing a sick mask into his pocket before quietly making his way out of the room with much care involved not to wake anyone up as he slowly opened and closed the door behind him and carefully felt his way through the dark, hands afront him.
Once making it safely to the kitchen, he eyed the cabinets and then the refrigerator afterwards; what could he get to make? Normally the management would get a cake but–..maybe he himself could make a small one…besides! The cake that gets bought for them normally ends up on the other’s face more than in their mouths, rather ironic in that sense. He could do that, that could work out. Just a tiny cake that only his hyung could eat. He’d do that. Running a hand through his hair and then pulling up his hoodie, he headed for his mask to place the straps behind his ears and the mask over his nose and mouth–efficient enough. Sneaking out was never really a problem for him–especially at night. Unless Sungyeol was awake lurking around at night, he had a habit of sometimes waking up in the middle of the night and sometimes that would cause problems for Sungjong because he enjoyed wandering while everyone was asleep at night.
Carefully making his way out, hands in front of him to keep him from bumping into anything loudly as he inched forwards and toward the door–finally his hands felt the texture of the door that he’d taught himself to remember in times like this and he slowly dragged his hands down then door till he felt the cool touch of the door and he opened it just slightly as he quickly slipped his feet into his shoes and quietly but quickly squeezed through the crack in the door that he’d opened. he couldn't quite remember which door it was that squeaked a bit when it opened and he wasn’t going to put his trust in finding it out right now. It wasn’t too long before he made his way down the street and towards the store. It was cold outside and he carefully stuck his hands into his pockets in an attempt to keep them warm and in little to no time he’d arrived to the destination. He really hated putting his hood up because like clockwork, as soon as he entered the store he received a few odd looks.
’No im not going to rob the store, stop looking at me.’ he seemed to be thinking to himself as he made a quick and short eye contact with a different customer in the market. He could only sigh to himself as he pushed himself to stop thinking about others opinions of him and to focus on his task at hand–what he’d came here for. Browsing through he pursed his lips together, not much of a selection unsurprising to him as he sifted through the selections of ingredients…making a cake from scratch was out of the suggestions box so that means that he’d be getting cake mix–at least that was easier and quicker than his earlier idea and it took little to no time for him to finish up with his selections and head back unnoticed.
Arriving back at the dorm soon after, he stopped and pursed his lips together, was the rustling of the bag too loud? He didnt wanna risk it. Opening the door carefully before turning on his heels, he headed to a trash can far enough before kneeling by and carefully sticking what he could into his pickets and carrying the rest in his hands–grateful for his earlier actions of opening the door as he quietly laid the contents on the table from his arms and pockets–scurrying to close the door of the dorm behind him now that his hands were free. Welp, Mission one to sneak out and gather things–complete.
